No people came back
A run finished with an empty or very short list. Here is what to check, in the order that fixes it fastest.
Almost every empty list is an ICP that is too narrow, not a search that failed. The agent found people, measured them against your profile, and set them all aside. Work through the checks below in order.
1. Your ICP is too tight
This is the usual cause. Loosen one thing at a time and rerun.
| Loosen first | Why it bites |
|---|---|
| Location | A single city cuts the pool hard. Widen to a region or country. |
| Company size | A narrow headcount band excludes companies that fit in every other way. |
| Job title | Titles vary between companies. Describe the role, not the exact wording. |
| Industry | One sector label misses companies that describe themselves differently. |
2. The source was too specific
If you pointed the agent at a single post, the ceiling is however many people engaged with it. A quiet post returns a handful of people, and qualification trims that further. Point at several posts, a job search, or a people search instead.
3. Everyone was already yours
People already in your contacts are skipped, and each person gets one outreach thread. If you have run a similar audience before, a second run over the same source can legitimately return nothing new.
4. A limit was reached mid-run
Searches, list building and profile visits each have a daily cap. Hitting one pauses that action only, and a live chat resumes the next day. A run cut short looks like a short list.
Ask the agent
Paste this into the chat that came back empty:
This run returned almost nobody.
Tell me how many people you found, how many you set aside, and why.
Then suggest the single loosest change to my ICP that would widen it most.
